Criteria for Admission
Candidates for admission to the various courses are expected to satisfy the general admission requirements of the University as specified in the Academic Regulations. This requires achieving any of the following:
- SSSCE and WASSCE holders: Passes in six (6) subjects with an aggregate score of 24 or better, including English, Integrated Science, Mathematics or Social Studies in relevant areas of study.
- GCE holders: Five (5) credit passes at GCE Ordinary Level including English and Mathematics, plus three (3) passes at the GCE Advanced Level with grade D or better in relevant subjects.
- Other Qualifications: IB, IGCSE, GCSE, American Grades 12 & 13, or equivalent qualifications.
- Holders of verifiable qualifications: From recognized institutions with approved content in relevant fields, assessed individually.
- Mature Students: Must be 25 years and above, in gainful employment, and pass an entrance examination and interview.
- ‘Top Up’ Applicants: HND (minimum 2nd Class Lower) or verifiable diplomas from accredited tertiary institutions, assessed individually.
- International Students: Equivalent qualifications and proof of English competence, plus two recommendation letters from high school.
4-Year Degree Programmes
Admission to Level 100 requires one of the following:
- SSSCE/WASSCE: Passes in six (6) subjects with aggregate score ≤ 20, including core subjects (English, Mathematics, Integrated Science/Social Studies) plus 3 electives (Physics, Geography, Literature, Economics, Business Studies, etc.).
- Three passes in Advanced Business Certificate Examinations plus five GCE ‘O’ Level/GBCE passes including English and Mathematics.
- American Grade 12 certificate with minimum Credits in relevant subjects.
- Holders of GCTU 6-month Certificate Programmes with a minimum CWA of 80%.
- Five GBCE passes (including English and Mathematics) plus three ABCE passes in relevant subjects.
- GCE Advanced Level: Passes in three subjects, at least one at grade D.
- International Baccalaureate (IB).
Mature Students
Candidates applying as mature students must meet the following:
- At least 25 years old.
- Minimum of 3 years work experience.
- Relevant professional/work experience or published work.
- Passes in three (3) core subjects (English, Mathematics, Integrated Science) plus two relevant electives.
- Credits in 5 GCE ‘O’ Level subjects including English and Mathematics.
- Diploma from a Teacher Training College.
Additional Requirement: Mature applicants must complete a 2-month access course and pass a competitive entrance exam, which includes:
- Mathematics and English Language.
- Physics (for Telecommunication & Computer Engineering applicants).
- Faculty-specific papers, Logic, and topical issues.
2½-Year Top Up Degree
- HND qualification with at least Second Class Lower Division from a recognized Polytechnic.
- GCTU Diploma with minimum CWA of 65%.
