OVERVIEW OF PROGRAMME
National Relevance:
the MA program at GCTU adopts a comprehensive approach. With Ghana’s ICT development policy statement aiming at the nation's total commitment to transforming Ghana into an information-rich knowledge-based society and economy to ensure that Ghana and its people fully participate in the information age and enjoy the social, cultural and economic benefits of the emerging information revolution, the MA in Human Resource Management with Informatics will go a long way towards the achievement of the policy’s objective as it will broaden the nationwide knowledge in Human Resource Management together with ICT.Uniqueness of the Programme:
A lot of Tertiary institutions offer similar courses related to MPhil Human Resource Management. However, the proposed programme MA in Human Resource Management with Informatics is unique in its sense as this course concentrates on the adoption of information technology in the management of the Human Resource in organisations. Additionally, it adopts a blended method in offering the programme. Thus, it has courses that equip students with human resource analytics among others to help acquire this unique knowledge needed in the management of the human resource of an organisation.-
Inadequacies in Skills:
The human resource in an organisation is believed to be the most valued asset. In recent times, technology has advance to all human endeavors especially in organisations and research. The use of information technology to manage these organisations is very imperative. However, it appears the people in positions to manage this asset have inadequate knowledge in this field of study when it comes to informatics. Participating in this program will therefore help bridge this knowledge gap, that is, the inadequacy in skill, thus equipping students to gain the required knowledge in research and to perform effectively in industries. -
Alignment with the Mandate, Mission and Niche Area of the Institution:
GCTU aspires to be a world class university promoting scholarship, innovative research, cutting-edge technology, entrepreneurship and developing outstanding students and staff for national and global development. The introduction of the MA Human Resource Management with Informatics will help train and develop persons to gain required knowledge in the management of the human resource using information technology for both national and global development.
