Students’ Admission, Progression and Graduation
To qualify for admission, applicants must hold a good first degree with at least a second-class division in economics, agricultural economics, statistics, actuarial science, or a related field from a recognised university. Candidates with a strong mathematical and quantitative background are strongly encouraged to apply. Applicants should have successfully completed relevant undergraduate courses in economics, research methods, and quantitative methods.

Objectives
- Develop students with expertise in public economics and the design and evaluation of public policy both in Ghana and internationally.
- Equip students with the tools necessary to understand and address public policy challenges effectively.
- Provide students with advanced analytical skills to assess the impact of public policies.
- Foster an understanding of global best practices in public policy to enable effective policy formulation and implementation.
- Equip students with the skills and knowledge needed to effectively conduct empirical research that informs and shapes public policy decisions.
Intended/Expected Outcomes
- Graduates will possess a deep understanding of public economics and be able to design, implement, and evaluate public policies effectively in both local and international contexts.
- Graduates will be able to critically analyse complex public policy issues and propose viable solutions, demonstrating a strong command of relevant tools and methodologies.
- Graduates will be proficient in using advanced analytical techniques to measure and interpret the outcomes of public policies, contributing to evidence-based policymaking.
- Graduates will be knowledgeable about global best practices and capable of applying these principles to develop and implement policies that are both innovative and effective.
- Graduates will be skilled in conducting high-quality research, allowing them to contribute original insights and evidence to the field of public policy, influencing both academic discourse and practical applications.
